The Kensington Runestone, left by the Vikings 130 years before Columbus discovered America, 

     is on display at the Runestone Museum in downtown Alexandria.

 

The Douglas County Historical Society, in the Knute Nelson Home, 

is a must-see for history buffs.

 

15 miles north of the Resort is Inspiration Peak, 

the highest point between the Allegheny Mountains and the Black Hills.  

From the top, you can easily see Lake Miltona.  

This is a fantastic view in the fall when the colors are at their peak.
